Men, let’s be honest, your man cave hasn’t been cleaned in weeks. The carpet is covered in beer stains, buffalo wing sauce and salsa spills. It’s becoming an embarrassment to invite your guys over to watch the game because it smells like the inside of a gym bag mixed with cigar smoke. So ,it’s time to ditch the man cave and get a head start on the newest trend in ultimate sports fandom, a fan cave.
Start by showcasing your team’s colors into your space by painting one wall a different color, leaving the other walls a neutral color. You can add colored bar stools, bright decor or colored tiling. Just don’t over do it, and leave the space feeling too heavy. Limit the color to one or two design elements.
Make a statement in your fan cave by adding movement. A great way to make the bar in your fan cave stand out is by choosing a natural stone countertop with depth, texture and movement.
Next, you’ll want to make lighting the main element in your bar. All the best bars have great lighting, and so should you. Add a variety of lighting that will showcase all of the colors and different elements of movement you’ve already installed. Overhead lighting can make your space feel open, while the option to dim lighting can give different effects on ambience.
Consider a white natural stone or white stone tiling backsplash to add the effect of more space. White can create a blank canvas for you to show off the booze being offered at your bar. If you are looking at shelving for your bar, consider open shelving which will also make your space look bigger.
Finally rip out the carpet and install a natural stone flooring. You don’t want to be cleaning a red wine stain at the bottom of the 9th inning while the bases are loaded. Spills are easier to clean with soap and water, they won’t leave a stain to cheapen the look of the fan cave, and it makes you seem like a more hospitable host.
